Family man Stuart Humphrey lost both his job and part-time dance event business amid coronavirus restrictions last year, but he quickly looked to his other passions and skills for ways to support his family.
His first attempt at self-employment was as a freelance photographer but when a friend asked him to build a website that quickly generated new clients and he was already offering free advice to others on how to pivot their struggling businesses, he realised that his background in digital marketing, lead generation and sales could help his local business community succeed in a turbulent market.
With support from his partner Lizzi and their five children, Phoenix Marketing was up and running within weeks offering a range of digital and traditional marketing company services for small to medium local businesses.
Stuart quickly secured his first client and already has another five businesses onboard within the manufacturing, marine, security, renewable energy and creative industries.
He said: “I’m excited to work with both new and established businesses and help them drive business growth. “Our vision is to truly help as many local businesses as possible weather the storm and come out stronger than ever before."

Stuart said he is passionate about helping his community and as part of that commitment he has already employed two local experts, Philippa and Martha, who saw their freelance work dry up as a result of the pandemic.
He is also collaborating with another Lindfield business – Refresh designs, who are known for supporting local businesses including The Fresh Fish Shop and the Perrymount clinic.
